Well, I'm a novice at blogging, technologically un-savvy, and not completely sure about what exactly to say ...but hey, why not?
So here is the official blog that will hopefully provide you all with updates, information, and stories of adventure, mishaps, success, struggles, scandal, and plain old daily life over the next 27 months.
My current struggle? What to pack! How do I fit my life into 2 suitcases, combined not to exceed 80 pounds? Coming from a self-proclaimed overpacker, this next month is definitely going to be interesting.
On the update front, I officially leave the great state of California on January 26th. I then meet the other volunteers on the east coast for a quick orientation and introduction, hop on a quick 17 hour flight, and boom , i'm in South Africa.
I can't even begin to express the excitement, anxiety, nervousness (and every other applicable emotion) that I'm feeling as I begin my preparations to go. This has been almost an entire year in the making, and it's beginning to feel a bit surreal that I'm actually leaving. So here's to hoping that my second trip to South Africa is just as meaningful, influential, and for lack of a better word, amazing, as the first one.
